Father's Day for me has changed meaning over the last couple of years. Now, I consider it a Mother's Day part two. But I'm sure there's many that could consider Mother's Day as Father's Day too.
My mom has become two parents and that is something I'm extremely thankful for. Although at 19 you may be considered to be an adult, it is a time in your life where you also want a lot of guidance and help transitioning into college and or the 'adult' world.
My mom was there every step of the way and then some. She continues to be there for me in more ways than I can count on my fingers. When I need to tell someone something important, she is the first person that comes to mind. Despite living together, we still manage a phone call a day, even if it's just to let her know I am on my way home.
She has provided a solid foundation for me and has inspired me to work hard in everything I do and wish to do. If I tell her I'm worried about this or that, she is there to reassure me that it'll all work out. And occasionally, I tell her the same. She has taught me well.
So when Father's Day now rolls around, I think about my mom and everything she does and sacrifices for me. She works so unbelievably hard, and it's sometimes hard to show her how much I truly appreciate everything she does. I'm not sure what I'd do without her.
She is my mom, friend, advice giver, shopping buddy, photographer, and so much more. She's anything she has to be in order to help me succeed. Thinking about Father's Day as a second Mother's Day is just one way I hope to show her how much she means to me. So thank you mom. Enjoy your day (again.) And keep being the most helpful, gracious, and funny person I know and love to hang out with.
