A Letter To My Dad

My dad is the person who kills spiders for me.

From first glance, there is a special bond between a father and a daughter. A bond that never can be broken. Boyfriends can come and go, but your dad is there through it all. I think that's why most dad's get emotional when their daughters get boyfriends because they feel like they're getting replaced.

There is no one who could ever replace my dad.

My dad is the person that knows how to make me laugh. He's always cracking jokes, which almost always results in a giggle or a full out laugh. If he's not making jokes, then he's probably talking to himself or talking some weird nonsense, which is always entertaining. There's never a dull moment.

My dad is the person I vent to. Whether its work rants or something else, he is always there to listen. My dad is the person I go to for advice. He's experienced more of life than I have, and always has words of wisdom to offer. I appreciate his words.

My dad is the person that kills spiders for me (or catches them and lets them go outside). My dad is the person that knows how to make me smile when I'm feeling sad. Whenever I'm feeling sad he does everything he can to try and make me smile. If all of that doesn't work, then he gives me a hug... and that usually makes me feel better. My dad is my TV watching partner. I mean, who else am I gonna binge watch Law & Order SVU with?

My dad is the person who introduces me to new things. I've seen good movies and heard cool tunes because he's showed them to me. We've cooked some pretty good food too. My dad is the person that I ask all my questions to. The questions can range from something car related to something homework related, but he always knows the answer. My dad is the person who remains positive even through tough times. My dad is the person who is really good at painting. My dad is the person who would do anything to make sure his kids have a world of opportunities.

I know that my dad won't be here forever. Which is why I cherish every moment I get to spend with him.

As time changes, and I become closer to the adult world, there are a couple thing I want you to know... I love you. Thank you. And I'll always be your little girl.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
