Happiness Touches for Your Home

If you're anything like me, your home is your safe haven. The place where you can relax and block out the rest of the world. I love tiny details that make my home cozy, comforting, and happy for me and any guests that I might have.

One of the best tips for making your home inviting and cozy is to add Christmas lights!

I added Christmas lights to the top of my kitchen cabinets to not only highlight the things I have up there, but also to create a warmth that draws guests in and makes them feel welcome. I am a huge Christmas fanatic, and if there's any way I can make Christmas linger throughout the rest of the year I am definitely going to do it!

Another thing I like to do is disperse my favorite candles throughout my home. They add a touch of warm light, while also filling your space with scents that bring a smile to your face every time!

One of my favorite things to do when I go to someone's house is to raid their pantry for snacks. I'm very nosey especially when it comes to food, and I've always got an appetite for snacking. A great happiness tip is to keep your home stocked with snacks the you love to grab, and snacks that your guests will enjoy, too.

When you give a guest a snack, they're probably going to want a movie to go with it. My next tip is to display your favorite movies in a visible place for easy access during a cozy day or night in, either with friends or family or even just snuggled up with your pets.

You can't settle in to watch a movie without a fluffy blanket to lay under. I like to keep a basket of fuzzy blankets right next to the couch for convenience, because more often than not I'm cold and like to have a pile of blankets on me.

Something that always makes me happy and gives me a boost during the day is coffee. I am a coffee addict, and I like to display my Keurig in a corner on the counter as well as tea and hot chocolate. This way my home feels like a personal cafe and guests feel welcome to help themselves to their favorite hot drink.

The last tip I have for making your home the happiest environment possible is to add decor that is either personal to you or puts you in a good mood. I like to add pictures of family, my favorite books, touches of my favorite colors, and plants. If you're like me and missed out on the magic of a green thumb, you can opt for a fake plant. You can find affordable fake plants at Marshalls that look very realistic. You never have to water fake plants and your pets won't eat them--win, win.

Your home is the one place in the world that is completely yours. Whether you live in a tiny temporary apartment or a luxurious mansion, your home should be your happy place. A place where you keep all of your favorite things and everything is exactly how you'd like it to be. These are my personal tips to a happy and more personalized space. Good luck!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
