If you live in Michigan or the Midwest, you know what I mean by "third winter": the rain-snow mixture paired with thirties-one-day-sixties-the-next. It is the true definition of an empty promise. If you are like me, then your seasonal affective disorder is in full over-drive! Here are some tips to get the upper hand on the last corner to spring!
1. Get some Vitamin D
Whether this is by tanning, taking vitamins, or from the actual sun, get your Vitamin D! Now that the sun is starting to come out, EMBRACE IT! Leave early and start walking to class. Some exercise and sunlight are just what you need to perk up your mood!
2. Pamper yourself
Face masks and long showers are my go to! I LOVE Lush Face Masks and they are worth every penny. After a long semester, you deserve it!
3. SLEEP
Daylights Savings has killed me this year! It does mean more sunlight throughout the day, but it is so hard to bounce back to a normal sleep schedule. No matter what, I always try and get 6-8 hours of sleep a night. That may be difficult for you night owls, but trust me! Your morning self will be much appreciated.
4. Spend time with friends
As the school year is winding down, this may be the last time to spend quality time with your bffs before fall semester starts! And if you're graduating this year, it is especially important to make those last memories in college. So, have a girls' night, drink some wine and binge "The Office".
5. Write down happy thoughts and memories
I try and do this every day! In my planner, I designate a space to write down one thing that happened that day that made me happy or was positive. During stressful weeks, I also change my background on my phone to an aesthetical wallpaper or motivational quote.
If you do one thing that makes you happy a day, you can drastically change your mood until the real deal is here!
