I Am Whatever I Say I Am

I’m not sure what will happen tomorrow, but I’ll take care of myself so I am strong enough to face it.

Something I have learned time and time again is that happiness does not just come to you. Happiness is something that each of us can have every single day; there is no person or object that is holding your happiness. It's not even something you have to find, it's something you have to acknowledge. While working towards being happier, repeat at least one of these statements to yourself throughout each day... Studies show that it can increase your belief in the statement.

  • I can and I will do things to promote healing in my life.
  • I can handle this one step at a time.
  • I love myself.
  • My problem has a solution and I will work on a plan.
  • I refuse to give up because I haven’t tried all possible ways.
  • I am important.
  • I am smart.
  • I matter.
  • I am strong.
  • I can find peace.
  • I choose to focus on what I can control.
  • My smile can make someone feel better.
  • I am happy with who I am.
  • I am a good person.
  • I choose to see the good in the people I interact with today.
  • It is always too early to give up on my goals.
  • I can reach out for help if I need it.
  • I am special; I will not change myself for anyone.
  • I choose hope.
  • I choose to take good care of myself.
  • My past does not define my future, I do.
  • My life is filled with possibility.
  • I choose to have the strength to move on to healthier relationships.
  • I will allow peace in my life.
  • I deserve good things in life.
  • I release myself from my anger.
  • I love who I am.
  • I choose to see each obstacle as an opportunity to grow.
  • I choose to be proud of myself.
  • I will speak kindly to myself.
  • I have the power to control my reactions.
  • I can control my breathing.
  • I am ready to write a new chapter for my life.
  • I choose to let the past go and move on to the future.
  • I release fear from my mind.
  • I can write down my thoughts and take control of my emotions.
  • I am thankful for life.
  • I am a child of God.
  • I choose to be happy.
  • I forgive myself.
  • I am okay. I am breathing. I am alive
  • I am stronger than my worries.
  • I’m not the only one who struggles; I choose to be kind to everyone that I meet.
  • I am loved.
  • There are so many great ways I can experience and appreciate life.
  • Doing good makes me happy.
  • I deserve to do things that make me happy.
  • I choose to keep moving forward.
  • I can change my life.
  • I allow myself to take a break and do something I enjoy.
  • I’m not sure what will happen tomorrow, but I’ll take care of myself so I am strong enough to face it.
  • I choose to approach my problems with a calm heart and mind.
  • I have a purpose that I am fulfilling.
  • I trust myself.
  • I will learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
