Hanukkah Songs

Put on your yarmulke, it's time to celebrate Hanukkah!

Hanukkah Songs

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, I venture out of the Haverbubble and to Bryn Mawr College to attend my English class. As the mid-morning heat of September has transitioned into crisp December air, as Halloween and Thanksgiving have floated by within the blink of an eye, I have welcomed the endearing embrace of seasonal change. As time has passed, the music that has floated through my car's radio on my way to class has mirrored that change. Now, in the midst of the holiday season, music reflecting the jolliness of this time of year blasts through my speakers, ringing with choruses of "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells." However, despite the nature of the "holiday" season, the only songs I've heard on the radio have been Christmas songs. While I love Dominic the Donkey as much as the next gal, I can't help but be dismayed at the lack of Hanukkah songs hitting the air. So, in case you, like me, relish in the gelty pleasure of Hanukkah music, here are 10 songs to help you ring in the holiday:

1) Chanukah, Oh, Chanukah!

2) Miracle by Matisyahu

3) Watch Me - Six13

4) I Have a Little Dreidel

5) Candlelight - The Maccabeats

6) Left to Right - Michelle Citrin

7) S'vivon

8) The Dreidel Song - Julie Silver

9) Maoz Tsur

10) and, of course, The Hanukkah Song by Adam Sandler

The Perks of Being a Girl

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
