I'd Rather Hang Out With My Parents Instead Of Partying

Yes I hangout with my parents instead of partying, and yes I actually enjoy it.

Crazy right? A 20 year old girl that would actually rather spend time with her parents then go out and party or spend her time with her friends, mind blowing.

It's not that I don't like hanging out with my friends because I do, but my friends and I all enjoy very different things. Personally my idea of a good time is sitting on the couch with some food and watching a very good, drama filled movie. My friends are also all away at college and life gets lonely when there's only a few of your friends left in town.

Personally, my parents are a hoot (the use of the word really emphasizes that I do hang out with my parents a lot). On Fridays, my parents and I sit at the dinner table and just talk about all the stuff that happened during that week. We tell jokes, and we laugh until we cry. If it was a rough week we just sit and talk about how we could've handle things better. My dad frankly is the funniest man I know. My friends often times come over just to see him, and my mom finds my dad really obnoxious 90% of the time even though she really loves him.

I personally have the most fun when I'm with my parents. We go to concerts together, we go to dinner together almost every weekend, we go to the mall, we do everything you do with your friends together, and yes that includes getting drunk together too. Honestly. when I don't do these things with them I really do miss them. Now I know what you're wondering, why do you spend so much time with you 50 year old parents, you can find people your own age that are like them, that's true. I do know people like them and I do enjoy their company, but the truth is my parents aren't going to live forever. They're still young and healthy, and I pretty sure they're going to live to embarrass me until they're 120 but one day they won't be around or maybe one day I won't live close enough to them to see them all the time so I'll miss all the time I wasted trying to not spend time with them.

Yes just like you sometimes I don't want to be around my parents, and just like you sometimes they annoy me with their excessive rules that frankly are border line insane. Yes, sometimes I want to go buckwild and just be a 20 year old girl but most of the time I'm okay with my parents being my best friends and spending my whole weekend with them. But don't tell them that because it'll go to their heads.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
