We all know that life is truly the biggest test of our patience. In this article I am going to share with you why I believe that good things truly do come to those who wait. No matter how much bad luck you have had, things will eventually turn around. I have had my fair share of bad luck. It's like I'd go to bed everyday expecting tomorrow to be even worse, I never expected anything to get better. But I waited. I didn't give up.
In my "love life," I have had four long-term, somewhat serious relationships. They all ended on not very good terms. I have been afraid that I am not going to find the right one, or that I am not going to be with someone for a lifetime. But as a 19-year-old, I know that those are not thoughts that should be in my head. I have told myself time and time again, that I need to be patient, and that I do not need to find the one right now. When things look like they aren't going to get better or turn around at all, I encourage you to tell yourself to wait and see what happens. The future holds so much promise. I'm not telling you to sit back and give up on romance, maybe go out on dates with people you wouldn't normally go on a date with, ask a cute boy out, go out of your comfort zone. But if those pursuits end up not working out, don't give up. Something better will come around.
What I mean is, pursue your dreams, your passions, your ambitions and work hard, but have patience in the process. Waiting and having patience can play a role in all parts of your life. You can wait on love, success, God, in line, on traffic, etc. But really, as a culture, we are obsessed with eliminating any kind of waiting. We never really practice any kind of patience. When we hit a bump in the road that won't move for us, we really struggle. Anything in life that is meaningful takes time. I have found out that only a patient person will have seen things in life that are truly meaningful.
