Hands Up! Don't Judge Me
National Review

You can’t define someone by what they look like, who they are, and what they are dressed liked. Every single day someone is getting judged because it’s in our nature to judge but what good does that do? We are just making them feel less of themselves instead of more as if they are worth something or we are making them feel as if they can’t be good at all just because of what everyone else thinks of them. In today’s society we’re judging cops a lot, and it’s not right whatsoever. I get that there are cops who shoot innocent people when they have no weapons. It could be a race thing or it can be anything actually. But just because there have been a few incidents of cops shooting innocent people doesn’t mean that there can’t be good cops out there in our neighborhoods. We judge the poor saying how they are homeless because they got into drugs, became sick and lost their home because they couldn’t afford it or probably gambled it away when we should help them and put them in a shelter so they can get taken care of and not judge them just because they’re poor. Because one day we could end up like them and beg for people’s help asking for food or money when they’re just going to walk by us, shunning us because we’re a disgrace to society or a sad case.

We judge people by their looks and where they come from not thinking that they are already living a tough life as it is or they’re working their butts off to support their families or themselves. It’s already hard enough living when the economy is bad and we all have to struggle just to survive. But what really bothers me is how people in the world think that all cops are bad and that is not true. It’s not fair to assume that all cops are bad because they are not. There are bad people in the world. Bad people can dress and look different. There can be bad people who dress up like firefighters, teachers, students, doctors, nurses, business workers, anything. There are bad people everywhere and there are good people too. It's also annoying how people in society act upon violence to make a statement just to hurt the people who did them wrong and it really shouldn't be this way. There are good cops, doctors, firefighters, parents, teachers, especially black, white, Spanish, Hindu, Islamic people. Not everyone of that race is a sadistic murderer, bully, or criminal. There’s no point in putting up a wall between us when there are good people in the world.

Is not only that though because people who know you from your past sometimes judge you really hard because of what you were acting like and how mean you were, which isn’t right at all. Judging someone from their past is not okay cause if they’re different now and they’re trying to do better and become a better person, you’re just making them feel as if who they are now is who they were before which is highly upsetting. Leave the past where it is and focus on the present. Focus on the good and not the bad. Stop judging other people because of what they look like, what they’re dressed like, and who they are because we are no better by insulting them and making them feel like they’re not worth anything. We should just care about living our lives and enjoying it as much as we can.

Life is too short to think about the past and hurting others just to make ourselves feel better. So hands up, don't judge me and don't judge each other. Because if we don't, there would be more peace. Not violence.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
