Naturally, when we hear or see the phrase “handle with care” it is in reference to an object that is easily shattered, broken, or damaged. Most of the objects are expensive glassware, small trinkets, or new kitchenware. The beauty of these entities is that they can be easily replaced. Sure, they may be expensive, but glassware and trinkets are just materialistic gadgets. What do we do when we don’t handle with care things that cannot be easily fixed or bought new?
Some days I think that our hearts should come with a “handle with care” sticker or message attached to them. Just because we cannot visibly see a heart break or damaged does not mean that the harm is not being done. But society often forgets this. We go around using, misusing, and abusing hearts without realizing the hurt being caused.
From here on out, I challenge you to take a step back and reevaluate your words and actions towards others and yourself. Just because you may not be able to visualize the chaos being constructed with your harsh words or cold actions does not mean that it is not happening. Handle everyone's heart with care. You never know what may already be broken or what you could potentially fix.
