The Handiwork Of God Is All Around US

God is seen in everything around us: the sky, the earth, you, and me.

I was walking through the commons today, it was supposed to be 85 degrees outside, and I could feel the warm air on my skin. I saw how blue the sky was today with the white clouds slowly dancing in the wind. I felt the green grass bending under my feet. I saw each of the people around me walking to their dorms from class. Did you know that the earth is exactly 92.96 million miles away from the sun? Did you know that if we were closer to or farther from the sun than the elliptical orbit allows, the earth would be unable to support life? Just think about how amazing that is. We have the moon controlling the tides from 238,900 miles away and we have every condition perfect for supporting life.

Now let’s take a moment to look at the human body. Last year in my Anatomy and Physiology class, I learned how the body works. We started out by studying the little cells that make up our bodies. There are 200 types of cells in each human. There are epithelial cells, and categories of epithelial cells, there are glial cells and many more types. The average human has about 37 trillion cells in the body. That’s a lot. There are also so many muscles in the body. You have to have muscles in your body to move. In fact, adults can have between 640 and 850 muscles in their body. 43 of those are just to move your face. You just blinked and used 6 muscles in your face to do that. Is your Mind blown yet? Then you have organs. Your brain is the most important organ in your body. It controls every heartbeat you have, every breath you take, every step you take, everything you do comes from your brain. Every part of you works together to keep you alive, and all of that comes from your brain. There are over 7,000,000,000 people on this planet, and every single one of them has a different strand of DNA inside their 37 trillion personalized cells than you do. Think about how amazing that is.

My God did that. My God made the waters to create channels a certain way based on the gravitational pull of the planet. My God made the earth to be just a certain distance from the sun so we could thrive. My God made you and me so different from one another, but so fundamentally the same. My God sent His only Son to die for me, and to die for you. All He asks in return is that we love and respect Him, and obey His will. That is not a deal that I would want to make if I were in God’s seat, because I’m not as merciful, and I’m not as loving, and I’m not as patient or graceful or kind as He is. Fortunately for this entire planet created by His fingers, I am not in His seat, so we all have that deal on the table. Being on the receiving end of that deal, I decided to take in, 10 years and 17 days ago. This is the deal of an eternity, more than just a lifetime. When I talk to people about religion, I love to say that my God made this whole earth, just like He made them, just like He made me. That amazes me. How could someone as wonderful and powerful and mighty as Him give His Son for me? Honestly, why? I’ve done nothing deserving, but that’s the love of God. Why would you reject that love for pleasure that is fleeting? Why would you give up an eternity in Heaven for a vapor? There is no greater honor in this world to me than to praise my God, because He died for me, and now I will live for Him.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
