This is for those who are sick of dating. This is for those who are ready to settle down. This is also for those who are done wasting their time. If you're ready for your next relationship to be your last, you have no choice but to sift through the masses of millennials who are still exploring romantically. Why date crowds of people who aren't looking for anything serious when you are? How else are you supposed to find out what they want? There is another way to go about this. It's called courting.
Courting at its most basic definition, means to be in a relationship that is expected to end in marriage. Many couples who choose to court also abstain from sexual activity. Some even go as far as to limit physical contact altogether, and only go on chaperoned dates. Courtships are more popular in Christian households because it is designed for people who are trying to marry instead of date for pleasure's sake. Courting can be useful, regardless of your religion or lack thereof. The idea is that if both members of the courtship are seeking to form a marriage, more care will be taken to court someone who is suitable for marriage. It is probably not the best idea to court someone you have just met. Courtships often begin as friendships.
This may not sound much different to you than regular dating does. Essentially, it isn't. It seems like there is very little difference between the two, but there is. When you might date someone to get to know them better, you would court someone you already know, and are confident that you would be willing to marry. Because of this, courtship is much more serious than dating. Entering a courtship is essentially saying that you feel that you could spend the rest of your life with that person.
This is clearly not something everyone can handle. Some may feel that this places too much pressure on the couple. Some are simply not ready for such commitment. For those who are, this can be a very useful way of conducting your search for a soul mate. Courting takes a lot of the guesswork and headache out of dating for those who are ready for something more permanent.
