Welcome to the Hopeless Foundation Kingdom. This album, written by Halsey, is her second studio album. Inspired by her breakup with her boyfriend of that time, this album follows the storyline of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
So, go ahead, grab a cup of coffee.. For you are about to enter Halsey's storyline of Romeo and Juliet and may I add.... It is quite the musical treat!
4. The Prologue
As I mentioned earlier, this album was inspired by a breakup. Thus, Halsey reiterates Shakespeare’s Prologue to Romeo and Juliet. Such an idea of these “star-crossed lovers” can be seen within her World Tour of the Hopeless Foundation Kingdom, where she has two main houses of her own - the Angelus and the Aureum. There is no creative way than telling your story than by starting with that of Romeo and Juliet.
3. Walls Could Talk
This is yet another one of Halsey’s shorter songs on the album. Nonetheless, it is still quite powerful. Personally, to me, this song is about being honest. It is about having an open discussion with your partner and not keeping secrets. It is about tearing down the walls of honesty that stand between two partners. It is most definitely worth the listen.
2. Heaven in Hiding
Each song, in one way or another, relates to this theme of Romeo and Juliet that Halsey has going on. This particular song is about hiding the love that clearly exists between one another. One of my favorite lines within this song is this - “Don’t you see what you are finding? This is Heaven in Hiding..” Aside from having powerful lyrics, the song itself has a good rhythm, making it so much more catchy than it already is. I hope you enjoy this one just as much as I do!
1. Strangers ft Lauren Jauregui
This is one of the strongest songs on Halsey’s album, not because it features Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui, but because of the message behind it. It is one of same-sex relationship - in particular, it is about two women who want one another. These women are strangers, perhaps because they cannot have one another. Nonetheless, they still desire to be loved. (Hence the lines of “We’re just strangers / with the same damn hunger / to be touched, to be loved, to feel anything at all”). Such a powerful song with such a creative twist on two individuals who cannot have one another. (There’s that Romeo and Juliet theme again!).

Halsey is currently on her World Tour of the Hopeless Foundation Kingdom. From what I have heard thus far (and based on her previous performances), she puts on a killer show. I, for one, cannot way to put this theory to the test and see her at her New York performance date!
