October 1st. The day many of my friends have been posting memes about, such as this one.
Now that it's officially October, this means Halloween all the time. October has become Halloween month. Personally, I don't like Halloween. I hate scary movies and hate seeing Halloween memes 24/7 posted on Facebook. The majority of my college goes crazy on this holiday. People are already talking about matching costumes and what scary movie to watch next. I can't participate. I'm not nearly as excited as my classmates for this one night a year.
I don't like dressing up or spending money on an elaborate costume. I don't understand planning months in advance to buy (or make) and possibly coordinate something you'll likely only wear once. I hate being scared and going to haunted houses. No, Halloween isn't the same for me as it is for you. It's not the most wonderful time of the year for me.
October for me means fall, pumpkin spice, hockey, and the leaves changing. No pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons or skulls, spiders, and witch hats will be seen in my room. I do like some parts of Halloween. I can do haunted corn mazes, but not haunted houses. I can watch some classic Halloween movies, but nothing scary or horror. There is one thing about Halloween we can all agree on: candy! Candy deals the day after Halloween are the best. Best of all, no one will judge you for buying or hoarding mass amounts of candy, because everyone else is either doing the same, or wishing they could.
To my friends and anyone reading that actually loves Halloween, enjoy this time. I hope your costume is worth it. Enjoy marathoning the movies Netflix just put up. Have fun pranking and scaring your friends, or being scared yourselves. Release your inner spooky, crazy side!
