October is in full swing and Halloween is right around the corner. This month tends to be filled with costume shopping, candy eating, haunted house going, horror moving watching and the good ol' trick-or-treating antics. The colors orange and black become a trend and you realize how many pumpkins there are in this world.. because they are frickin' everywhere.
Halloween is the kick off to some pretty fun months ahead that are filled with Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years... aye. I love it all. Whatever your Halloween traditions entail, I am sure they are fun and hey, if you don't typically do anything, maybe this year try something out! I thought it would be cool to take a Halloween movie (and one of my all time faves) "Beetlejuice," to further explain the true meaning of Halloween and what it all encompasses. Alright.. it's SHOWTIME.
When you can't find a costume so you decide to just go as yourself because you are scary enough as it is.. (this hits home).
That feeling when you leave a haunted hayride.
When you decide to watch a scary movie even though you are a weeny and will have nightmares for days.
When you're at a costume party, having fun, and someone asks you some serious questions about your past.
That feeling when mom makes you pose in your costume and takes 341 pictures before you can go have fun.
When the "Monster Mash" comes on and it gets lit.
When you find some perfect Halloween light reading.
When your homemade costume is a hit.
When the news talks about being cautious of the candy you get while trick-or-treating and to watch out for razor blades or candy that is laced.
When you watch "The Exorcist," and wonder what it would be like if you were possessed.
That feeling when you are standing in line before going into a haunted house and immediately start regretting all life decisions leading up to this point.
When someone has the same costume on as you.
When you're out trick-or-treating with your family and then that existential dread kicks in.
When your siblings think it's that time of year to scare you in as many ways as humanly possible.
When someone asks if they could have a piece of your Halloween candy.
That feeling when you turn on the TV and the "Halloweentown" Marathon just started.
When you get asked for the 17th time, "What are you gonna be for Halloween?"
The stares you get when you go out during the day in your costume.
When someone asks you why Halloween is your favorite holiday.
When you wake up on the morning of Halloween.
When Halloween is FINALLY here.
Happy Halloween! Have fun this year and be safe! Eat some candy, watch some "Beetlejuice," and be extra spooky for me!
