Although festival season is coming to a close, EDM lovers around the world still have many opportunities to rave. New York may not rock the Insomniac events that SoCal gets, but we still party as hard when we get the chance.
Halloween in NYC is always a flop -- bars are overcrowded, parties get shut down, the list of grievances goes on. The exception to that is Halloween Raves; trust me on this, you'll forever crave the rave.
Here's a mini-guide of the top events to check out this month:
1. Pier of Fear: Above & Beyond (Friday, October 28th)
Held annually at the Pier 94 warehouse in Hell's Kitchen, Pier of Fear is nothing short of insane (in the best way possible). The event has had an impressive list of artists and DJs that have graced the stage: Last year PoF had Skrillex, Marshmallow, Kaskade, Armin van Buuren...the year before PoF hosted names like Tommy Trash, Adventure Club and Knife Party. In addition to the stacked setlist, the light-show is always top tier.
This year PoF welcomes legendary trance-trio Above & Beyond. Above & Beyond reigns as famed trance artists and have produced extensive studio albums, including We Are All We Need (2015), Group Therapy (2011) and Tri-State (2006). I saw them live on their 2015 tour at Electric Zoo and they were mind-blowing. Their music is touching and inspiring, yet catchy and addictive, the best of the best. Even better, Above & Beyond fans are some of the most dedicated, feel-good fans I have ever raved with. Listen here
2.RPM, Mr. Bugsly, Good Looks Collective: HI-LOWEEN (Friday, October 28th)
RPM has added more events to the mix with the Brooklyn Hangar venue joining the Halloween rave game. The first night has Hi-Lo, deep house producer Oliver Helden's side project/new alias. HI-LO's sound is darker and deeper, with "Renegade Mastah" propelling HI-LO into the spotlight. This is the first year that Brooklyn Warehouse is participating in Halloweekend, but RPM's amazing curation usually guarantees a good time.
3. RPM, Mr. Bugsly, Good Looks Collective: Galantis (Saturday, October 29th)
Brooklyn Warehouse is turning up two nights in a row, with Swedish duo Galantis finishing off the weekend. Galantis swept the EDM community with their singles "Runaway (U & I)" and "No Money".
Happy Raving!
