Oh, the spookiest of seasons! Scary movies, candy, costumes, cold weather, and so much more. Usually, the month of October is filled with pumpkin patches, haunted houses, and fun festivities. Now because of Covid-19, we are all stuck at home. But that shouldn't kill your spirit! There's so much you can do and still follow the Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

Depending on where you are, your local farmers market has reopened with safety restrictions! Usually, around this time, they will be selling pumpkins of all shapes and sizes! If not, you can always go to your grocery store, they will also have a large selection of pumpkins!

Now that you got your pumpkins, get together with less than six friends or your family members. Use your imagination or browse the web to find the design you want. Now you can paint, carve, or draw all over your pumpkins. Then you can post some pics and get some votes in for whos is the spookiest!

Celebrate Fall

Just the celebration of fall can be so much fun! Pick out a snazzy outfit, put on a matching mask, and take a walk. Maybe even stop by your favorite coffee shop and pick up your first hot-drink of the season! If you're feeling extra festive, grab a pumpkin-spiced latte!

Movie Marathon

There are so many Halloween/Scary movies that are perfect for this time of year. If you have the channel "Free Form". They have a 31-day-long movie marathon called "31 Nights of Halloween". They play Halloween movies all month long. If not, you can always find a movie on one of your favorite streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBOMax. Set up a night with treats, blankets, and of course, a movie!

Making Treats

There are so many that you can make. Going to your local grocery store, you can find the Pillsbury Sugar Cookies with pumpkins and ghosts on them! You can also make Halloween Bark and many other recipes that are both sweet and salty!

Vote!

Now this year in the United States, it's an election year! It is very important that we all go and vote. In October, you can sign up for early voting! So, you can put on your favorite fall outfit, go pick up a nice hot drink, and go to the polls and put in your vote! If you can't get out of the house, mail in your vote! But make sure that voting as at the top of your fall activity list!

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads.
