11 Reasons College Halloween Is The Best Halloween
ForeverTwentySomethings

Halloween is a special time in college. You see how tolerant to the freezing cold weather freshman girls truly are in their pursuits to be the best cat or mouse you've ever seen. Everyone wants to celebrate this wonderful holiday. Remember how boring Halloween was in high school? In elementary school? It's everything you've ever wanted, you just had to go to college to know it.

1. Halloween is more than just one day

Halloween in college can range from a week-long celebration depending on your credit hours and workload, to a weekend of Halloween-filled activities.

2. You COULD still go trick or treat, just wear a mask.

Let’s face it, everyone loves free candy. It’s the one time of year you can go to a complete stranger’s house, knock and ask for free candy. Just make sure you wear a mask or an elaborate costume, because some people choose to believe that after a certain age you can't trick-or-treat anymore. Oh society, why must you ruin free candy?

3. Halloween Parties: Houses

College kids love throwing parties, especially when they are no longer stuck in dorms. The freedom is exhilarating, and the feeling of throwing a banger is even better. You will probably be invited to a minimum of two parties on the weekend for Halloween, and you will go to both, and you will have the time of your life. House parties = jungle juice creations, and people everywhere in costumes.

4. Halloween Parties: Bars

Bars also love throwing Halloween parties. The drink specials are not only cheap, but creative. It’s like bars compete to come up with the most creative Halloween drink, and it’s all for our benefit. Bars also have costume contests with CASH prizes, isn’t that swell? You could win cash just for dressing up. IT'S AWESOME!

5. Costumes for Days

Because Halloween is never just one day in College, you get to dress up in multiple costumes, and so does everyone else. Plan group or partner costumes because we have all of the days to dress up.

6. Creativity

You will see some of the most creative costumes. College students will surprise you when their inner makeup artist comes out. It’s also the one time anyone can dress as anything and there are no questions asked. A male-identifying male can dress with a wig on and dress, and no one will ask questions, it's fantastic. Be creative, and let your creativity fly, for Halloween is once a year.

7. Halloween-Themed Everything on Campus

The local coffee shops will be decked out in pumpkin spice everything. Campus will have Halloween-themed events, and candy will appear more often in the month of October than any other month.

8. Scary Movies

Scary movie marathons with your college friends over everything. If I’m going to watch scary movies I’m going to want to watch it with my college friends who wont care if I jump every other scene. Plus, your parents wont be there to yell that scary movies are bad for you.

9. Adventures

You ever wanted to do something crazy like…visit a cemetery? In the middle of the night? On or around Halloween? Who better to do it with than your college friends? No man left behind.

10. Haunted Houses

Haunted houses with your buddies sounds much more appealing than haunted houses with your younger siblings. Plus, as an adult you can enter even scarier ones than when you were underage in high school. And who better to scream like a little girl with than your college friends?

11. Day-After Candy Sale

That campus store or closest store to campus which was selling candy will have tremendous specials for all of your favorite candy. It is the TIME to buy candy, there is literally no better time to buy candy than after Halloween.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
