Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of year again where pumpkins are being carved, candy is collected, and people of all ages are out in costume. That's right, it's Halloweenseason. In recent years, this holiday has become more and more popular for young and old alike. Whether it be trick-or-treating with friends or attending a fun themed party, Halloween is certainly looked upon as a time for enjoyment. As this time of year tends to kick off the holidays, there is a lot that goes into planning and carrying out what many now look at as a yearly tradition. However, it's important to not forget the valuables and what it takes to make the holiday a successful one. When it comes down to it, it can be determined that there are both "Do's" and "Don'ts" of Halloween. What better way to create such a list then through the minds and ideas of children. Those of pure innocence are often the ones who say the most real and funny things.
When asked, "What would you say are the do's and don'ts of Halloween," here's what was said:
William
DO "candy!! It's party time."
Bella
DON'T "eat all the candy"
Abby
DO "umm, you get a costume that you pick out, which is so cool."
DON'T "don't go without mommy or daddy."
DO " you go to people's houses, like your neighbors or friends."
DON'T I "don't eat too much, it can give me a belly ache."
DO "you do a lot of walking and have fun."
DON'T "I don't eat without mommy looking at my candy so I don't get sick or something."
DO "brush your teeth when you're done."
Lilli
DO "go trick-or-treating."
DON'T "knock on people's doors and run away."
DO "play with my friends."
DON'T "don't trick anybody."
DO "dress up."
DON'T "spill candy."
Others
DO "have a creative costume."
DON'T "go by clowns or dress as a clown."
DO "stay on the sidewalk."
DON'T "go into a stranger's house."
DO "bring a water bottle if you're walking a long route."
DON'T "kill somebody."
DO "trade candy with your friends."
DON'T "give out raisins, people will hate you."
DO "go out early so you can stay out longer."
DON'T "put (bad stuff) into candy."
DO "take all the candy from the 'take one' houses."
This list of "do's" and "don'ts" was constructed by children, with their answers quoted completely with no change.
No matter what you decide to do this Halloween season, make sure to have fun and be safe! Keep in mind what exactly it takes to make this a successful holiday.
Happy Halloween, from the young to the old!
