5 Creative DIY Femme Halloween Costumes

Number 1 on this list is Luna from Sailor Moon, Usagi's trusted cat and guide. All of the costumes on this list are relatively low maintenance and this one is probably the best example of that. You can simply wear all black and either purchase or make a set of cat ears. The finishing touch for this costume is to paint (or stick) a crescent moon on your forehead (with the moon's opening facing upwards) and then voila! You're set for the night. I love this costume especially because it's a cute twist on a basic costume (the stereotypical black cat).

Number 2: Marceline from Adventure Time. Marceline the Vampire Queen sports a classic red flannel and black skinny jeans. For this look you could get a cheap long black wig and if you want to go the extra mile paint your face and neck a grayish-blue color, to mimic Marcie's undead skin. Lastly, remember to paint two bite marks on your neck! You'll be ready to sing about your dad eating your fries. For an added touch use a prop, like something red that you could carry around as a snack.

Number 3, Nani from Lilo and Stitch. I absolutely love this character, she's strong, independent and kind of hot. This costume might be a little too skimpy for a cold October night, but since we're in a pandemic who's going out anyways? For this look just get some blue jean shorts, an orange t-shirt (for accuracy you could find one with a pink heart in the middle or just paint one on), and lastly some timbs (if you're a New Yorker this shouldn't be an issue).

Number 4: A Bratz doll! This one is more open to your own interpretation, and can be inspired by any doll you find online (I recommend Pinterest). For a basic look opt for bell bottom jeans, platform white sneakers or boots, and a tank top with rhinestones! What really makes these looks are the makeup, draw some cute hearts on your cheeks, do a warm toned, glittery cut crease, whatever you like!

Number 5: a character from the Craft. This outfit is all about the accessories and the black lipstick. You can sport a simple white button down and a dark green plaid skirt. Add some black necklaces, maybe an inverted cross and a bit of black makeup and you're set! If you want to be the main character choose Nancy (who has the most interesting character arc in my opinion), all you'll need is a black trench coat and a long black maxi skirt.

I hope this helps to inspire some Halloween looks!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
