I know that everyone is not too keen on celebrating Halloween this year. We are still in a pandemic and an election is currently our minds. It's best to stay at home and not go out to trick or treat at night. This is totally reasonable, but I think that you should still put on some great costumes. You can put these costumes on to have a virtual Halloween party or to take pictures on your social media to show your family and friends. This is the best way we can celebrate the holiday this year without going out for bags of candy and not getting infected. These are my recommendations for costumes that perfectly suit this year of 2020.

20. Nurse or Doctor

With everything going on with the pandemic, it's best to honor the people who put their lives on the line to help those infected with the virus. Dressing up as a doctor or nurse is one of those ways that you can do that. It shows that kids can look up to and admire them for their hard work. Possibly, it can inspire those kids to become one themselves when they grow up. We need all the help that we can get.

19.Punchline

For those who don't know, Punchline is a new DC comic book character that debuted this year. She is the Joker's new sidekick and rival to Harley Quinn. For those geeky comic book ladies, I think that dressing up at Punchline in whatever costume is worth giving a try. Harley Quinn has been cosplayed so many times through many different outfits. Why keep doing the same thing when you can try this one out?

18. Andy from the Old Guard

One of the most badass movies to come out this year was The Old Guard. This film is the one summer blockbuster film to shine on Netflix while movie theaters were closed. One of the main characters named Andy is played by Charlize Theron who known for playing badass roles in the past. If you want to feel like an action heroine capable of anything, you should dress up as Andy. She deserves some love along with other action heroines such as Wonder Woman.

17. The March Sisters from Little Women

I know that Little Women came out late last year, but it has become one of the popular films to have come out. Many people have Little Women and want to embrace that love by dressing up as their favorite character from the film. I would say that this would be a good costume for a friend group of girls. If you and your friends have no idea what to do for a Halloween costume, then this might be a good one.

16. The Babysitters Club

Another good group costume would be the Babysitters Club. Since the Netflix show came out, many people have been enjoying the story of these young girls. All of these girls have a strong friendship amongst each other. If you wish to show how much friendship means to you, you can dress up as one of the Babysitter Club members along with your friends and have a good time.

15. Enola Holmes

Here is another feisty female character that debuted this year. Enola Holmes is the little sister of Sherlock Holmes and had a solo film of her own. To feel like you are in a costume drama, you can wear one of Enola Holmes two outfits of her regular blue dress or her lady red dress. Whichever one you choose, I'm sure you will feel like solving a mystery once you're done with trick or treating.

14. Alexander Hamilton

The love that people have for Hamilton never dies. Ever since Disney+ released the official Broadway recording of it on their site, people have been revisiting this 2016 hit. If you want to show some Hamilton love, you can dress as Hamilton himself or any other character from the musical. If you really want to go for, memorize one of the songs so you can perform and record for others to share.

13. Catherine the Great from The Great

Catherine the Great is one of those powerful female leaders from history that people are starting to see a different side of. With Helen Mirren playing Catherine in Catherine and Elle Fanning's turn in The Great, you can pick out any of her many dress that you would want. It can be simple or outlandish. Show your love for this amazing royal of Russian history.

12. Billie Eilish

Billie is one of the biggest music stars to have come out in the last few years. She is very different in that she doesn't follow with the type of clothing that most of her female artists. She likes baggy clothes and shorts that don't present her figure at all. It's an act of defiance against those who sexualize young female artists. If you are a new fan of Billie, this could be the year for you to wear one of her many outfits.

11. Lady Gaga's Stupid Love Costume from Stupid Love Music Video

Since the beginning of this year, Lady Gaga has made a comeback with her career in pop after her biggest film role in A Star is Born. She decided to start with a music video that set the Internet on fire with a bright pink costume that calls back to some of her older outfits. If you really want to dance away the awfulness of the year, try on this costume and embrace her music to have fun.

10. Taylor Swift's Cardigan Costume from Cardigan

Another music video that sent the internet on fire is Taylor Swift's surprise album folklore. She also released a music video that is both simple and magical. It was nothing like anyone has seen before and it stripped away Taylor Swift's pop image for just this year. If you have no other costume ideas yet wish for something simple, you can try this costume for a good, last-minute DIY.

9. Running Forrest Gump from Forrest Gump

This is one costume I have seen very popular on the internet and I have no idea why that is. Could it be because Forrest Gump is a classic American film that people are rediscovering after its release? Maybe. Is it because there are no other costume ideas left that this is the best one? I don't know about that, but it's a good costume for guys to do. They've been in quarantine long enough to show off their Forrest Gump beards this Halloween.

8. Morticia Addams from the Addams Family

This costume was inspired by a BookTuber named Naya from Nayareadsandsmiles. She posted an update video where she dressed up as Morticia Addams and she looked beautiful. Naya is amazing and you should check it out. Since it is Halloween, why not dress up as someone who would love the festive occasions this year? After all, Morticia is another great female character like Andy from the Old Guard.

7. Black Panther

The world was surprised with the sudden, tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman. He was one of the best modern-day actors and we wish he was still alive today. To honor him, embrace his legacy by dressing up as one of his famous roles, Black Panther. This costume idea is meant for young African-Americans only. Please don't dress up this like if you are not a person of color.

6. Harley Quinn from Birds of Prey

I know I said that Harley Quinn's costumes tend to be overrated, but her new outfits in Birds of Prey have every woman wanting to replicate her style. Unlike her Suicide Squad outfit, Harley Quinn's outfits in Birds of Prey are more feminine and less male gazey. You can still be sexy in her outfits, but I think that these costumes from whatever outfit is worth showing off this year for the sake of feeling comfortable in your own body.

5. Camille Washington from Hollywood

Despite your love or hate of the show Hollywood, one of the most standout characters for me is Camille Washington played by Laura Harrier. For many years, the type of Golden Age Hollywood actress has been a white woman. Camille may not be a real person, but she was able to embrace the glamour that those ladies of that time had. I think this is a great costume for any African American woman who wants to finally have their time in the spotlight.

4. Baby Yoda and the Mandalorian from The Mandalorian

While the Mandalorian came out last year, it is still a popular show that people love. One of the best parents and child costume ideas is to dress up as the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda. If you have a little kid to show off their love of you and the show, you can get some costumes that suit each of these two characters and take pictures that are worth keeping for future Halloween times.

3. Avatar Kyoshi from Avatar franchise

Avatar Kyoshi is the most underrated Avatars of them all. Many people might not take her seriously with her makeup, warrior dress, and iron fans, but she is a badass warrior like Andy. It doesn't matter that she is in a feminine getup. Any female warrior can embrace their femininity and still feel awesome. If you want to show some love for this warrior, so head. No one is going to stop you.

2. The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus

Halloween has always been the time for the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus to come and play. If there aren't any children in their presence, you and your friends can dress up as these witches and have a magical time. It's also great costume to do on your own as well. Your costume of choice are either one of the professional witches of Winnie and Mary or the sexy witch of Sarah Sanderson. Regardless of any choice, you will be sure that others will be under your spell.

1. Team Avatar from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Just when the world is in the need of the Avatar the most, it comes back into our lives with The Last Airbender coming back to Netflix. From this show, you can be whoever character you want. Aang is great choice for any young boy to pick. Zuko is one to be dark and moody for this time of year. Let's show our love and gratitude for this show coming back into our lives when we are in desperate need of some joy!
