It's almost here! Halloween is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate it than to go trick or treating with friends while stocking up on loads of candy? Unless, of course, you're someone like me who's 20. That means you're too old for knocking on doors for treats, but too young to go out and grab drinks with friends at local bars or restaurants. It's a bit of a limbo that a lot of people my age have to go through. So, I thought I'd make it a bit easier by giving some tips and ideas on how us in-betweeners can make it through the season while still having some fun.
First, check out the local parties! Don't just stay on campus either! Howard parties are great and all, but if you want a new experience then venture off campus! Halloween is the perfect time to do this too. Everyone is out having a good time, and there will be plenty of parties to choose from. So grab your friends, go dress up and show out for the season. There are so many local colleges in Washington DC so you'll have no problem finding a place to go with young people who are just as eager to dance and chill as you are.
Also, if partying isn't your thing, that's cool too. Everyone isn't a party animal, and instead. you may want to spend a nice Halloween night in. My suggestion, go buy some pumpkins and get to carving! You'd be surprised how fun (and slightly challenging) pumpkin carving is. Put your own spin on the old Jack O' Lantern and carve out meme pictures, spooky cats, or the traditional face. Watch some Halloween favorites like the Nightmare Before Christmas or Friday the 13th. So snuggle up away from those brisk autumn nights and enjoy your Halloween in.
If none of these things appeal to you, then try finding something to do during the day. Halloween isn't all about the night time festivities you know. Go on hay wagon tours, or visit Six Flags for Fright Fest! Volunteer somewhere if that's what you like to do. Halloween isn't just one thing for everyone. So don't feel left out if you didn't know what to do for the holiday. As an inbetweener, it's ok not to know. Take a few of these ideas and go have fun! Enjoy the holiday, if you live to see it. Dun dun dunnnnnnnn!
