Around this time last year, as a young, free living 22 year old, I said to my then 23 almost 24 year old classmate, "I'll probably stop dressing so scandalously (I'm censoring myself a bit here) when I'm 24 considering I'll be 24. I now understand the look of disgust and dismay she had now that I'm one month shy of 24 myself. Halloween is staring me in the face and I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that it's just not going to be the same, 2 years post grad. That being said, I have a few questions about Halloween, post grad. I know I’m an adult at the age of 23 but...I think I need an adult.
1. Can I still wear minimal clothing for Halloween parties? Or should this be the start of my transition into strictly funny costumes?
2. If yes, at what age do I need to stop wearing scandalous costumes? I need time to mentally and physically prepare myself.
3. Are Halloween parties still for drinking and wearing no clothing? Or should I expect to maybe bring a jug of apple cider?
4. When can we bring back Halloween games like bobbing for apples or telling ghost stories? Did I squander those years of childhood Halloween parties without even knowing it?
5. At what age does it start to get embarrassing that you’ve never done a couples costume?
6. At what age does it start to get embarrassing that your entire group of friends is still dressing up as Mean Girls characters
7. Most importantly, is it still appropriate to go out 3 days straight for Halloweek? What if you have a full time job that doesn’t involve skipping your 8am class to throw up in the shower? I thought so...
