As fall rolls around I am reminded that I am not a fan of "all things scary," so this season for me and other scaredy cats is particularly troubling. Instead of being the "boring one" in the friend group, try some of these out to make October a little more tolerable.

1. Apple Picking

This is fun in general. Not only do you have great photo backdrops for your ever-important selfie, but afterwards you can make and eat caramel apples with friends.

2. Harvest Festival

Harvest Festivals are a fun activity for all ages. So grab your loved ones, friends, significant other or those annoying kids you babysit and have a blast.

3. Non-Haunted Hay Ride

A daytime take on the classic “haunted hayride” but significantly less scary. Take in the autumn views and beautiful scenery while drinking some hot apple cider.

4. Making Fall Recipes

There is always the go-to classics like pumpkin or apple pie, but this year try a twist on the old recipes. Pumpkin cheese cake is a delicious, festive treat that will have your friends and family going back for slice two. Pinterest and Buzzfeed can give you a lot of ideas for anything pumpkin related, which is what every white girl loves during fall.

5. Halloween Pet Parade

If you thought kids in costumes were cute, wait until you see pets in costumes. This fall grab your furry friends and deck them out in Halloween garb. It will be a laugh for you and everyone else, not to mention a great picture for the fridge!

6. Pumpkin Picking

If you go pumpkin picking and don’t take selfies with the pumpkins, did you even go?

7. 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family

A fantastic marathon of family friendly Halloween movies for you and your friends to be nostalgic about. Not as fantastic as the Harry Potter marathon, but that will be on next week, don’t worry.

8. Pumpkin Carving

This is the part where you carve that pumpkin that you took a selfie with.

9. Bonfires

Fun and cozy on cold fall nights. Just grab your over sized J. Crew sweater and pull up a chair. Guaranteed classic fun, especially if you add marshmallows.

10. Corn Mazes

These are significantly less scary during the day, so bring a friend and try not to get lost. Yet another backdrop for a fall photo shoot.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
