I hadn't flipped to the Hallmark channel in ages, not until my mother and I were trapped in our little beach hotel room recently, while the cold rainy weather taunted us outside. As we all know, hotel rooms don't usually have all those wonderful channels for you to flip through, so we took our chance on the Hallmark station. To our surprise, it was more enjoyable than we imagined.

1. It’s the happy endings you can’t help yourself from wishing for

While we make fun of Hallmark movies and seem to avoid them, they are what we often wish for in today's movies. We are most likely rooting for the happy ending to settle our conscious. However, this happy ending is often just what we need after a long week.

2. Predictability is sometimes just what you need

Sometimes we don't need the worry, heart racing, and panic mode thrillers. Sometimes, we have enough going on in our lives than to indulge in even more fictional stress. Sometimes, calm predictability is what's necessary for our health that day.

3. They’re Hallmark movies, which means you probably know nothing about them... unless of course, you’re a Hallmark fanatic.

Even though Hallmark movies are known for their predictability, we often don't know what the plot is. They aren't well known and they aren't in the theaters so you probably haven't heard the ending or the storyline from a trailer preview or a friend. It's a fresh start and you have no idea where it may go.

4. Give your hearts a little uplift instead of reminding you of all the horrors we surround ourselves with today.

We often surround ourselves with documentaries and the awful what-if's because we have the technology and resources to find out much more horrors than we used to. We watch so many horrible possibilities to be prepared that we forget about the good that is just as wide-spread throughout the world. These movies give us that "magic".

5. The cheesiness is joke-worthy.

Yes, it's cheesy, but sometimes that's precisely why you should watch it. It can be a comedy if you want to. That's what I made it into at moments it was fun to joke about how cheesy a moment was or how predictably we knew it would be.

6. Even though they are predictable, they are addicting.

Predictability aside, they're addicting. I turned on the first one and I was hooked because even though I knew they would end up happily together and in love, I didn't know how it would work out for them. I needed to know how it turned from being drama-filled one second and then shooting to a happy ending.

7. You don’t have to worry about them being too inappropriate to watch with your parents.

Today, there are many movies that are more inappropriate than you expect. I have definitely picked out movies that I didn't expect to be uncomfortable to watch with my parents that have tricked me. In Hallmark movies, however, you don't have to even consider that because they are all completely kid friendly. Most of the time, the couple doesn't even kiss until they say "I love you", trust me on this one, keep your eye out for it next time.

8. They are reliable.

Hallmark has many movies, so you can almost always expect them to have one after the other streaming on their channel at all times of the day.

9. Actors and actresses tend to me stars we have forgotten about.

They tend to bring back those stars we have forgotten simply because the shows or movies they are famous for are from our childhood. Actresses such as Candance Cameron Bure and Lori Loughlin from my personal childhood favorite Full House.

10. Remind you to love and appreciate your family and friends.

They remind you of the little things in life that are oh so important and yet easy to overlook. They remind you to appreciate the love you have for your friends and family and to recognize and relish in it.

Next time you're bored or need a little pick me up turn on a Hallmark movie, trust me, it will probably turn your mood right around. Maybe if you're a little curious as to whether or not I'm right on this, you should turn the Hallmark channel on right now, I'm almost positive there will be a movie on for you to watch.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
