I recently became a fan of Hallmark's When Calls the Heart. The show stole my heart (wink wink), and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a truly amazing story. This past week, I went to Los Angles, California with the friend who first told me about the show. We got the unique opportunity to go on Hallmark Channel's The Home and Family Show, a talk show, along with other Hearties to be a part of their studios' live audience. On the show, they had Lori Loughlin, who plays Abigail Stanton on When Calls the Heart, as a guest star, to tell more about what to expect in season 3.
We all had the amazing chance to meet and talk with the beautiful and gracious Lori Loughlin after the show's taping. It was truly an incredible experience to not only meet Lori Loughlin, but also meet fellow Hearties. I was able to acquaint myself with some fans, as well as join the official Facebook group, and get connected with thousands of more fans. Some fans were gracious enough to allow me to ask some questions, some responding, primarily to what it truly means to be a Heartie.
Carolyn Galaska: When did you first become a fan of the show?
Lori Meeker: I started watching when Episode One ,Season One aired, and I was hooked! I became a member of the #Hearties Facebook page within a few days after it was started.
Emma Jean Mittelberg: I became a fan of the show around April of last year (in 2015). My mom encouraged me to watch the show, and I have been hooked ever since.
CG: What does it mean to you personally to be considered as a #Hearties fan?
LM: For me, the reason I love When Calls the Heart and the Hearties is two-fold! First I love Brian Bird and Michael Landon Jr.'s vision to tweak culture with family-friendly, faith based, moral entertainment, and second, I've made some deep, life-long friendships through this group.
EM: For me personally, I enjoy being a #Heartie because I love feeling like I am a part of something special and unique. This show has a way of touching my heart very deeply, and I am very thankful for that. Also, I have gotten to make friends with so many other #Hearties through the show.We talk to each other on all social media sites, including our Facebook page which has over 32,000 members. It really does feel like a long-distance family.
CG: Why is When Calls the Heart your favorite show, and why should people, especially young people start watching this show?
LM: I would recommend When Calls the Heart to anyone looking for family-friendly, faith based; moral TV programming that doesn't sacrifice quality, and contains romance, adventure and suspense!
EM: I believe our generation, [millennials], should watch When Calls the Heart because it teaches us to have good morals and virtues, and also to be strong through each and every situation and obstacle we may face. The actors on the show do a great job of modeling this through their characters.
This show is so unique and different from other dramas, especially historical dramas that I have watched in the past. There is something so special about the show, especially the way the cast and crew interact with the fans, and fellow cast members like Erin Krakow (Elizabeth), Daniel Lissing (Jack), and Lori Loughlin (Abigail), as they are gracious to take time out of their busy work and personal schedules to care about their fans. I don't think I ever thought, when I initially started watching the show, that I would be a part of something this big, or rather a part of a TV family like I do now. It has been the absolute best; such a true blessing, too!
When Calls the Heart is currently in its third season, and you can catch up on Netflix, as well as tune in on Sundays by following your heart to the Hallmark Channel at 9/8c.
From yours truly, a fellow #Hearties fan, Carolyn
