When the chilly weather starts coming in, its time for the Hallmark movies to come out. I know there are some people that do not like the Hallmark movies because they can be cheesy and predictable, but that is exactly why I love them. There is nothing better than to lay in bed, all cozied up and watch some romantic Christmas movie.
The Hallmark channel makes everyone aware when the time for the Christmas specials is coming, and I can't help but wait with anticipation. All the movies that come out during the winter time, even though predictable, they are all different. I think the reason I got so into watching those movies was that it sort of became a tradition between my sister and me. Kind of like our guilty pleasure.
In a way, it became a tradition between my sister and me that no matter how far away we are from each other, we watch the new movies together. Whether we call each other before, during, or after the movie, we are always aware that of what we are watching.
We always plan it so that when we feel like watching a movie we talk on the phone or facetime so we could in a way to watch the movies together. I know it's hard to plan around college, so we let the other one know so that by the time we meet again, we have watched the same movies. We talk about them, watch the new one, or re-watch the old ones, it doesn't matter, we seem to never get tired of them.
And I'm not sure what it is about them, but they make us so entertained, they make us happy, but most importantly they bring us together. Maybe it's the innocence and vulnerability of the stories that call to us or the hopeless romantic in us that just wants to watch the happily ever after. It doesn't matter what it is, what matter is what the movies mean to me and my sister.
I would say that that is exactly why I love the movies, the bond it planted between my sister and me is what makes the movie more special to us.
