Louisiana was hit hard when Hurricane Katrina arrived in August 2005. Now the same area is dealing with devastating floods that have left many homeless, without precious belonging, and stuck in a situations that have changed their lives.

Louisiana has been hit hard lately with flooding that has devastated the area beyond belief. In some areas, flooding begins to recede, but in other areas, the water is doing the exact opposite, the flooding is actually rising. Many have lost their homes with nowhere else to go. They cannot find available housing in their area because most homes are at least a few inches under water. A few people have been killed during this horrific event, and thousands have lost their homes.

With the damaging floods comes need for essentials such as hygiene products that once were so readily available, but now, like the rest of the things during the flood, they're gone. The people of Louisiana are in need and certain people are going out of their way to make this happen for those who were effected.

Fave4 is an online beauty company that is out of Dallas, Texas selling hair care products online and in hair salons across the United States. With 3 million likes on social media and 15 tons of products shipped, they're products are talked about all over. If you're not familiar with their products, you might you might know them for their collaboration with Jessie James Decker on her hair care products she's launched by the company. They sell shampoo, conditioner and hairspray just to name a few, but this company has also started their #payitfave4ward to donate hair care items to those in need in Louisiana. They're not just donating proceeds from their hair care sales, but instead donating real items. For everyone of their larger sized shampoo and conditioners, they'll gift one person with shampoo and all kinds of hair items with it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
