Being the youngest of three and growing up having two older brothers has turned me into the sports-loving, ass-kicking girl I am today. Yes, I am a tomboy. I love to get down and dirty and am not afraid of a little competition. Growing up I always had to try to keep up with the boys or be left in the dust. Not only did I have to keep up athletically and with physicality, I also figured I would dress the part too, wearing basketball shorts and baggy tees. Sure, it made my elementary and middle school years semi-awkward, but whose weren't? Here are some things I have discovered growing up a tomboy.

1. Guys always call you dude.

2. You're always the first girl to get picked for kickball.

3. You actually understand the rules of multiple sports.

4. Guys are embarrassed/surprised/impressed when you school them in basketball.

5. Boys are intimated by your masculine demeanor.

6. You never have a shortage of athletic clothing.

7. Makeup is a foreign object to you.

8. You always had to cancel plans with friends because you had practice.

9. You have more guy friends than girl.

10. You never lose your competitive drive.

11. Some guys just can't handle how cool you are.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
