On her final episode, the truly amazing, talented and wise Cristina Yang told Meredith Grey:

“He is very dreamy, but he is not the sun, you are.” Let those words sink in for a second.

Doesn’t that quote give you a sheer feeling of confidence, strength and power?

It can be easy to get lost and caught up in a relationship or a guy you are interested in. It can be easy to forget about you.

You are the most important thing in your life. The second you start putting someone else’s needs before yours more often than putting yours first take a step back and listen to Cristina.

No man will ever complete you. You are not the sun because of him.

If you have a dream a guy should never be holding you back from pursuing it. You are in charge of where your life takes you. If he isn’t willing to let you be who you are then he is not worth having in your life.

“Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need.” Cristina you certainly do have a way with words. No guy is in charge of you, remember that. He does not dictate your life and your decisions. Never lose who you are and what it is that you need to a guy, even if he is very dreamy.

You are an incredibly unique person. You are strong and intelligent enough to take on the world and can do so alone. You don’t need to rely on a guy to make it through life. Yes, a partner by your side makes things easier, but relying on them can let your strength deteriorate. Never lose sight of your self-worth.

Men are intriguing and they can take over our lives, but sometimes we just need a reminder of who we are. When you feel defeated and that you can’t do or please everyone, remember that you are the sun, nothing less.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
