In this day and age, I am still baffled at the mindset some have, that nothing bad can or will ever happen to American citizens in America. Such as corrupt government, lying media and possibly having to defend yourself against your government in the future. These events have happened throughout history in almost every country, countries such as the Soviet Union in 1929, China in 1935, Germany in 1938, Guatemala in 1964, Cambodia 1966, Uganda 1970 and not to long ago Australia in 1996, etc. Now, I'm sure some will take what I just wrote as, "She is saying Obama is taking away our guns and that he's a dictator, etc." Well, no. I'm not saying that at all. Actually, I'm not totally against background checks. I'm a law abiding citizen and I don't care if I have to go through a background check. Here is what I am worried about.

I'm not worried about "Obama taking away our guns." However I am worried that we Americans are putting ourselves in a position where someone can be elected in the future and do those very things. For example, I don't agree with Donald Trumps' "wall" idea. One reason being, Trump may be doing this to keep people out of our country, but what if someone comes along and wants to keep us Americans in!

Now, yes, I am thinking ahead of myself. It's just a background check. But when the background check doesn't work, the laws will become stricter and stricter. Presidents will use shootings as political gain. They will cry on TV, invite those family members impacted to every event that is pro-gun control and a new restriction will take place.

I do not want the government keeping track of every gun I own. Having a record of every gun makes it easier for someone to come and know exactly what I have therefore making it much easier to strip each household of their guns. Which is what happened in the countries I previously stated.

Australia's gun control was done in a much more tasteful way. The prime minister banned many guns then did a "buyback" of those guns. If someone is willing to kill someone, no matter what rules are in place, do you really think they won't get a gun illegally? If they are willing to kill someone, then why would they care if the way they get the gun is illegal? As we saw in France, if people really want to kill people, then they will use anything. Also, isn't it funny that the same people who talk to us about gun control are the people with the most security? Here's a fun fact for you, the murder rate is the lowest it has been in years and gun sales are the highest it has been in years.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
