In recent years, many have argued that Western media coverage of Islam has been almost exclusively negative. Islam is the most talked about and rilicued religion. The media coverage on Islam has changed dractically over the past years and it started with the events of September 11, 2001. These events pushed Islam into the global media forefront and coverage of Islam drastically increased, particularly in news setting. How Islam was framed in the media changed in a negative light.
According to a recent Pew Research Center survey (2015), many individuals who are Muslim American are unhappy with the news coverage of Islam and Muslims. About fifty-seven percent of Muslim stated that American news organizations are generally unfair when it comes to coverage. They mentioned that negative media portayals among their top concernes of people of their faith along with discrinimination and stereotyping.

The Islam and Christian religion share some of the same beliefs, for example both reiligions believe in one God. They both also believe in after life, judgement and they follow a set of rules. Christianitans have the bible and Islam have what is called the Quran. Both religions do not have a huge diffrence when it comes down to religion.
Aamirah Majeed a cilivian contractor for a artiler company on Fort Bragg says the media pans the Isalm people as terrirost.
"I have been here at Fort Bragg for 10 years now and I still get treated like an outsider. It is so many cultures that live here in the city but when people look at me they look at me with fear or disguist in their eyes. I blame the media because they only show the negative side of our reiligion". -Majeed
“Basically, whenever anything negative happens in the Islamic community they get a lot of exposure,” Majeed said. “On the other hand, when a lot of positive things happen that doesn’t get much exposure. I personally believe that it’s whatever sells. The media is more in the selling business, and bad news sells.”
Even the negative protrayal has crossed over into entertainment. The past couple of years have had a handful of breakout moments, but representation of Islam remains overwhelmingly narrow and negative a problem that’s not only unjust on its own, but can also display preduice.
Kristy Davis a student at Fayetteville State University explains how her research on Mud slims in entertainment have shown little progress towards the entertainment world displaying the negative images on Islam.
" I wanted to shed a positve light on Muslims in the entertainment world but I kepy running into brick walls. They more I researched I found the most popular display of Muslims in the entertainment world were how the main characters in entertainment were Muslims who play terrirst like shows NCSI or Law and Order" -Kristy Davis
The negative media portrayal of Islam and Muslims needs to be balanced by widespread knowledge about Muslims and the Islamic culture. True Muslims, like true Christians, sincerely pursue the path of holiness to attain union of love and will with God; hence, murderous and cruel groups like the ISIS. Muslims anger towards towards America, is due to the lack of consideration the media has for displaying boht positive and negative coverage of Islam.
"The lack of knowledge and just going off what the media display can be damaging and can also display mind control. We have to balance it out and give Muslims a fair chance, I feel like we make a judge ment a declare them guilty before the even get a trail, a chance to defend themselves and present their side."- Davis

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
