The Dummies' Guide to Supplements

59

There is no right or wrong approach when it comes to supplements. It all depends on your body and what it needs. Supplements shouldn't be used as a replacement for proper meals' nutrition. Before you proceed with taking random supplements, you need to listen to your body first. Find the right supplements for you that will save you from nutrient deficiencies, help you reach your fitness goals quicker, and complement your diet. If you are overwhelmed, and you don't know where to start, here is a guide through various supplements that you ought to know about.

Fish Oils

Omega 3 is mainly found in certain foods such as fish and walnuts which the diets of most people usually lack. If you don't like fish or you have been tested for low omega 3 fatty acids, taking supplements for it is the perfect way to approach this issue. Once your body starts absorbing the supplement, you will notice positive changes in your power and energy levels. Omega 3 is usually chased by older people as it does wonders on fighting many diseases as we age such as Alzheimer's disease, high blood pressure, and heart attacks.

Vitamin B Complex

The one vitamin that most people's bodies severely lack is vitamin B12 especially those who go on extreme low-carb diets and others who adopted vegan lifestyles. If you experience constant low energy levels or you feel that you have low metabolism, it's better to check if your body is starving for B vitamins. Taking vitamin B complex ensures that your body gets the right amounts of vitamins B1 all the way to B7 plus B9 and B12.

Phenibut

Supplements can take care of your body as well as your mind. Chemical imbalance is one of the reasons most people experience issues such as anxiety, depression, and mood swings. Taking phenibut HCL powder, which acts as the brain chemical GABA can lead to the relief of such symptoms. It is also known to be helpful in improving focus level and attention span. This supplement can also help improve sleep for people suffering from insomnia, which leads to a heightened feeling of relaxation and other benefits of quality sleep.

Protein

If you are lactose intolerant, a vegan, or simply don't consume enough protein, then your body might be in desperate need for other sources for it; luckily, there is an option for everyone. From whey, soy, casein, pea, and many others, protein supplements are available at different absorption levels, but it all depends on your preference. Taking protein supplements is most common among people who are trying to increase their lean muscle mass. Protein powder shakes are usually consumed after a good workout for a boost.

Do What's Good For Your Body

The road of finding the right supplements for your body is bumpy and overwhelming, especially at the beginning. Before you start obsessing over your next power shake or start popping pills out of nowhere, get your body checked and ask your doctor first. It's not about whether multivitamins or dietary supplements are safe for you or not. It's all about what your body needs and doesn't need to function at its optimum level.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
