It is the epitome of all things Providence College. It is a time where all of PC's preppiness and love for partying can unite as one; it is Golf Party. Some may buy an outfit specifically for this occasion, others may go just for the drinking, and maybe some of you just dress like this every day. And that isn't surprising if you go to PC. For freshman out there, here is a guide to golf party.
1. Dress Preppy.
We're talking Vineyard Vines and Lily Pulitzer here. There is no actual golf attire that is actually required, which I've always found weird but don't question it. I've never seen anyone in a Lily Pulitzer dress on a golf course, but it's what you do. When you think you've hit maximum preppiness, go one step further and then you're set.
2. Be prepared to wake up early.
If this were real golfing, you would have the first tee time. You literally wake up at 6 am and start pounding back drinks. I recommend you figure out a mixie, such as orange juice, before the morning so you are not left stranded drinking straight vodka before your eyes are even open. Honestly, you're probably still drunk from the night before at this point.
3. There is no golfing involved.
Hey, I had no idea there was no golfing involved before I went to PC. People ask me if the golf team or golf house has a party. I'm not even sure if Providence College has a golf team at this point. Fact of the matter, there is no actual golfing involved in golf party whatsoever.
4. It will be last minute.
There is no planning for golf party. You'll hear 100 different opinions on what day it is and what time it will start. No one actually knows the answer besides the seniors, and sometimes they don't even seem to know. There is no way you can prepare, as annoying as that is.
5. It will be over before it started.
There was once a day where people could freely roam Providence College drinking in the morning in preppy clothes without the cops instantly breaking it up. Sadly, we are not that lucky. No matter how last minute it is, the police will end it most likely before 8 a.m. The biggest day of the year, a day where some people say that came to PC for, which by the way is very concerning, is just but a few hours.
