A Guide To The College Girl Trend

Because life would be boring if we all looked as if we cared!

A Guide To The College Girl Trend
Courtney Carver

Needless to say that a college girl has a strange sense of fashion. On one day, we are dressed to the nines with dresses and pearls and the next day you are lucky if we even changed clothes since getting out of bed and 99 percent of the time, it is the latter. Here are some of the essentials of the College Girl Trend:

1. Nike Shorts

I'll start with probably one of the most important item in completing the College Girl Trend. These shorts, regardless of if the girl is athletic or not, are found on almost every girl out there. The even better part is that the match everything and come in just about any color imaginable, not to mention they are by far the most comfortable shorts ever worn!

2. LEGGINGS!

Some will argue that I should have started the list with this, but being as it is too hot to wear these right now, they will go second. These are basically the closest you can come to no pants, without wearing no pants. Legging Season 2016 is right around the corner, y'all better get ready!

3. Two sizes too big T-shirts

This is essential to pair with the two items above. This trend has to be one of my favorites so far! Either I can wear the new T-shirt I just bought last week or the one I have had for years and it does not even make a difference. The best part about it being oversized is that it is so comfortable. It also makes you look so much smaller than you actually are, which is always a plus. Am I right or Am I right?

4. Monograms Everywhere!

Most college girls have atleast one thing monogrammed with their initials. (Or like me with half the things I own have mine on them.) I guess if people don't know our names, maybe they can know us by our initials?

5. A Classy Pair of Earrings

A classy pair of earrings can go with anything. They give us a false sense of hope, that we maybe are dressing a little nicer.

6. Makeup and Hair From the Night before.

And finally to complete every college girl's outfit, you top it off with the hair and make-up from the night before. Cut us some slack we stayed up *Cough* *Cough* "studying" until 3 a.m. and have to be back in class by 8 a.m.? Raise your hand if you have ever felt personally victimized by 8 a.m.'s?! The best part now is that technology has advanced so far, that we can finally apply makeup and cover our hair with Snapchat filters. So the rest of the world (who hopefully won't see us in person), may actually think we got our lives together!

All of these may seem silly or almost like we don't care (probably the latter), but us college girls know that really all that matters is what is on the inside: a full heart and a even fuller stomach of pizza!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
