It's the most wonderful (Instagram-able) time of the year—darty season. The sun has invited the annual return of daytime parties to College Park and the hype couldn't be more real. However, to ensure that you have as much fun as your recently uploaded pictures may suggest, there are a few guidelines to follow.
Wear Sunscreen
The less red, the better. As always, the pre-summer heat is intense which means there's a high possibility of skin damage, courtesy of the sun. To avoid sunburn/sun poisoning/pain, it's important to lather up in SPF protection before dancing in the sunshine.
Hydrate
Water is (supposedly) the most important beverage of the season. It's always a good idea to hydrate before, during, and after the day party. This way, hazards such as dehydration, dizziness, or worse, can be avoided.
Never Be Alone
Safety in numbers rings true, even when raging in the daylight. When arriving, leaving or moving from backyard to backyard, it is wise to travel with a buddy or group. Stay aware of your surroundings, where your friends are, and keep tabs on each other via text or phone call.
Choose Your Shoes Wisely
No matter how dry the weather, mud always finds its way into the crowded frat house backyards. Keeping practicality in mind, choose a pair of shoes that can either be washed or hold little to no importance to you.
Rooftop Selfie
The definitive proof of a good time. Sitting on top of the roof is not only an experience but a must. The bird's eye view provided by the ultimate elevated surface is something unique to darty szn that everyone should experience. How could anyone doubt you had a good time when you've captured the whole party in your shot?
Pace Yourself
Half the fun of partying during the day is knowing you'll get to continue the fun once the sun goes down. It's important to pace yourself throughout the day and stay conscious of what and how much you consume.
Be Responsible
With fun comes great responsibility. Keeping all prior suggestions in mind, the final weeks of the spring semester will be ones to remember.
