Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is Going to Be Awesome

We're right around the corner from seeing the cinematic birth of another comic book superhero in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange but where there is Marvel news, there is also more Marvel news. Using this new film to boost other upcoming projects, Marvel Studios recently released a 90 second sneak peek at their first 2017 film known as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. You may have possibly heard of it! It stars your favorite huggable tree, wise-cracking raccoon, and sexy lead star who also goes by the name Chris Pratt. The only disappointing thing about this movie so far is that these beloved characters are very much in fact, fictional characters.

Details on the plot of the upcoming summer flick are still being kept highly under wraps as evident by this trailer, but glimpses shown do provide for interesting speculation.

It was revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2016 that legend Kurt Russell will portray Peter Quill's father but he will also be a "living planet" named Ego. We may be seeing this planet in the trailer without context in shots like the one shown above.

Chris Pratt is one of the main stars of this Marvel sequel and he will obviously have an emotional family arc with his costar Kurt Russell within the film. This is another shot out of context but it appears as though our witty cosmic hero is in a serious hurry. Where is he flying? And why does that mask look so cool?

In the original Guardians of the Galaxy, characters like Rocket Raccoon and Yondu were somewhat enemies. But here, it looks like an alliance or friendship has started. Why are these two characters walking together being friendly? And more importantly, what's going on with all the floating bodies surrounding them? Perhaps it is a bigger display of Yondu's mystical mohawk powers. Or perhaps this movie is just going to be really trippy.

Another reveal at San Diego Comic Con, thanks to director James Gunn, was that Drax the Destroyer has an odd character arc in this new movie. Dave Bautista's character is trying to understand metaphors more clearly and even create metaphors of his own. He's also a very affectionate extraterrestrial as made clear in the image above. It is crazy seeing as how just one movie ago, he wanted to slit everybody's throats in a prison. Drax provided some of the biggest laughs back in 2014 and it looks like he'll provide much more next year.

Finally, the last shot of the trailer features none other than Groot! He's a growing baby and he's got a tight leather jacket because fun adventures are to be had. The marketing team at Marvel knew what they were doing when they saved Groot for the final moment in this trailer because chances are that he is going to steal the show. He may also steal the hearts of millions watching the movie too. And then those millions will spend superfluous amounts of currency on Groot merchandise.

Come to Toys R Us and buy our exclusive Baby Groot plushies! Every purchase can save you up to five dollars on tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2! In theaters May 5th, 2017!

I can see it now in my head and knowing Disney, it will happen.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
