Dear Santa,
Everyone has been asking me what I want for Christmas this year, and I can't seem to think of anything. Ever since I've gone off to college, I've realized that material things aren't what interest me. I have everything I could ever need and anything I don't have, I could buy myself. So what am I supposed to ask for this year?
All I want for Christmas is what money can't buy -- things that have become very important to me since I've gotten older. I know my family can't fulfill these wishes, and I know that you are not real, but I still have hope that that maybe, just maybe, you could be.
Santa, for Christmas I want everyone to go home. Too many people are too far away from their families and they finally need to come home. I know how it feels to go away and miss my family while I'm at school, but I can't imagine what it is like for those soldiers who haven't been home in years. Let them come home to see their worried mothers, their new babies who don't understand that there should be two parents in their households. Let them come home to their proud fathers and siblings who have missed doing shenanigans with them. They shouldn't have to spend Christmas across the globe after all they have done for us this year. Christmas is a time for rejoicing and coming together. So Santa, all I ask for is for those who have traveled far away from home to come home this year for Christmas.
Santa I also want peace for everyone on Christmas day. I know that is a silly thing to ask for -- isn't there always peace on Christmas day? Well Santa, there isn't peace for everyone anymore because the world is becoming a messed up place that always wants to fight and kill innocent people just to prove their points to the world. I want a ceasefire, where nothing bad can happened on this Christmas day -- everyone can enjoy time with their families and leave fighting for another time. I want peace to all those who lost loved ones in Paris this fall -- let the pain of their loss be gone for just one day. I want peace to fill the minds of anyone who lost loved ones for someone else's battles.
Santa, I would also love it if you could help my struggling friends find happiness and a reason to live this Christmas. So many people around me are becoming anxious and depressed due to a lack of love and isolation. I want them to remember why the Earth is so beautiful and that if they left it how much I, and everyone else, would miss them. I want the clouds to be lifted from their minds, and the weight of the world to be on someone's else's shoulders for a day. That annoying voice in the back of their mind can leave just for 24 hours on this Christmas day.
It would also be amazing if those little girls and boys trapped in orphanages could be adopted to loving families. I could not believe the way those children were treated when I heard a very nice women explain how she still had nightmares from when she adopted her baby girl. Please give all of those children the loving homes that they deserve -- just because they were left alone does not mean they don't deserve love like everyone else. They deserve more love than ever, if anything. No child should ever have to grow up without parents and they deserve a family for Christmas day.
Santa, could you also make all the little girls and boys stuck in the Hospital long term come home on Christmas day? Some of these poor children with cancer, AIDS, Cystic Fibrosis, and other life threatening diseases haven't been out of the hospital yet this year. They have flown to far away hospitals for treatment and their families miss them dearly. All I ask is that, for one day, help them travel back home to all the people that love them, and have a Christmas day just like us lucky ones. They didn't deserve the disease given to them, but they do deserve at least one day of happiness and not worrying about waking up the next morning. Please help them come home this year Santa.
Santa, could also bring toys to all the little girls and boys in poverty as well? I have seen too many children walking alone here in Cincinnati, and too many people asking for money on the streets. I ask you to help them in some way, with a meal, coat, or warm shower this Christmas day. I don't know what happened in their lives that left them this way, but I want to help them in anyway that I can to keep them from starving and have their wishes filled this Christmas day.
Now Santa, I know this is a lot to ask for this year, and I don't expect any of it to happen because you may not even be real. But please for anyone who asks, let them know that this is what I want for Christmas this year.
