Growing Up With Christina Grimmie

At this point, everyone knows who Christina Grimmie is. Most of us followed her on Youtube before she was a famous, strong, singing machine on "The Voice." Seeing a familiar face on a well known TV show instead of our computer screens was one of the best moments of our life. Christina was then known all around but we knew her way back when her video quality was poor and her signature look she accessorized with was a black glove. A cover uploaded without it was plain weird.

If you grew up around music as a kid, Youtube was your best friend and listening to covers of popular songs recorded by talented unknown artists online was a must after school. We know these talented artists who started on Youtube, such as Megan Nicole, Tyler Ward, Boyce Avenue and Tiffany Alvord, but the moment we stumbled upon Christina's Youtube channel we were hooked. What drew us most to her channel was the edgy look she had. She had the typical side bangs and dark eyeliner that most of us had as well. It was dark but beautiful on her. She wasn't afraid to be herself and she made sure we knew that it was okay to be who you are because being the same was boring. She was different and embraced it, and I admire her for this unique quality.

Christina's voice will live on forever and she is an artist who is irreplaceable. You don't find a voice every day that can range from Adele to Lil Wayne while managing to add in their own flare to make it entirely their own. Not only is that difficult to find, but to find someone who can sing covers with such power and soul is remarkable. Christina was one of a kind and was definitely going to make it to the top with her music career. It moves me how much passion she had with singing and being on stage. It was impossible taking your eyes off of someone who performed so vibrantly.

Living in a world without Christina is a world we couldn't imagine living in. Listening to someone's voice on repeat almost every night becomes addicting. Her music was deep and from the heart, which made it so relatable. The thought of never seeing a 30 second preview of her next album is mind boggling. She won't upload a cover of today's biggest hit and that small change is hard to accept. Nothing was more heart breaking than reading a tweet sent out saying, "The end." Her story may be over but it's one I won't forget. Growing with Christina Grimmie as a fan was indescribable. She succeeded in ways most people won't get the chance to do. Her ambition was motivating, and I'm proud to say I idolized her after all these years.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
