Growing Up With Older Brothers

Growing up with older brothers is responsible for why girls grow up to be who they are. It's the reason why they are a little bit of a tomboy and like some more unconventional things such as climbing and getting a little dirty. And it's the reason why they work so hard.

Growing up with older brothers means getting oversized t-shirts as hammy downs, and almost never getting pants...unless they are sweatpants.

Growing up with older brothers means getting pushed around a little. Between getting pushed off bunk beds and getting told that you can't hang out with them. Being a little sister is the constant struggle of wanting to hang out, but being too young to understand why you shouldn't be around.

On the other hand, growing up with older brothers means someone will always have your back. Whether it's a guy who breaks your heart, or a school assignment that has you stuck. They'll always be there to help you and pick you back up when you are down.

Not to mention you'll get the best piggy back rides on earth.

Growing up with older brothers means learning through their mistakes, but mainly from their achievements. The advice they give you is more meaningful than any other person in the world, simply because your best interest is always on their mind.

Growing up with older brothers makes you want to be strong and independent. You don't want to fall under the stereotypes that are thrown at girls starting at such a young age.

Growing up with older brothers means you'll grow up with your biggest heroes.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
