Some people think that growing up with two older sisters while being a boy must have been tough. Given that I myself have grown up with two older sisters, I'm here to shed the light on both the good and the bad of growing up with opposite gender siblings.

1. You know good hygiene.

We get it, boys are boys. We're known to stink, reek, and look like bums. Luckily, that wasn't the case for me growing up with two older sisters. Everything associated with them honestly just smelled...good. It made me aware of my smelling sense growing up. I could identify what smelled pleasant and what smelled downright horrible when it came to hygiene. I never forgot to leave the house with some deodorant and cologne on.

2. You dress for success.

In my younger middle school days, obviously, I dressed like a clown who clearly showed they didn't own a full body mirror. Who didn't dress like that when they were 12 years old, though? Growing up with two older sisters, you learn style, whether you like it or not. You know what goes with what, which shoes to wear, which colors would match. From that point on, you literally leave the house looking like your sisters honestly just dressed you.

3. You tackle pimples head on.

Is that a white head forming? Not today! Growing up with two older sisters, I never NOT had face washes or spot treatments ready to do the job when I needed them the most. Not just that, but I even have my own skin care regimen I follow every morning and night, as embarrassing as it is to admit. But it's all worth it if it keeps my face as clean and clear (no pun intended) as possible.

4. You're a neat freak.

You know how to keep tidy. You fold your clothes, make your bed, organize your closet, shoes, you name it. Nothing in your bedroom is really ever out of place and you never have trouble finding anything.

5. You know how to clean.

Being the youngest growing up, I was used to my sisters having more chores around the house than I did, which made me all the more observing when they did them. Those skills I've learned through observation, such as doing the dishes, putting them away neatly, vacuuming, steaming the hardwood floors, etc. etc., are skills that I'm able to put into practice today and serves as a good way in how I'm able to keep my apartment today clean. Now I know those are basic skills everybody knows how to do, it just seems a lot more effective when a girl does them. Props to the ladies.

6. You know how to sympathize with people.

Girls seem to have this special way of understanding truly what other people are going through and are great at being supportive. It's something I picked up growing up with two older girls in the family. I've seen my sisters deal with one another's problems as well as their friends' problems, and I've also seen them sympathize and lend their genuine help in those certain situations. It's something that's rubbed off on me and has made me a much more aware and awake person today. I feel like I have a sixth sense when sensing someone else is upset or down, and I always find myself involved when it comes to trying to help that person out emotionally.

7. You're very overprotective.

Ever since a young age, I always remembered catching a guy looking at or checking out my sisters, and I remember just how infuriating it would make me. The fact that a guy would even have the nerve to look in the direction of my sisters made me angrier than anything. However, now that they are both married and soon to be mothers and at an age where they can stick up for themselves, I've retired when it comes to my sisters and instead find myself being overprotective of my friends who are girls, a quality that makes my friends love me all the more.

And now for the negatives...

8. Bathrooms become nonexistent.

It doesn't take having a sister to know full on well that girls take forever in the bathroom. The doors get shut and locked and you have no chance of getting inside for a good half hour to forty-five minutes.

9. Bathrooms are messy.

Not only are bathrooms nonexistent, but they also look as though a meteor shower took place. Combs in the sink, blow dryers and straighteners left in the outlets, wads of toilet paper in the toilet, etc., etc.

10. You get tattled on.

Just because I'm the youngest, doesn't mean I was always the most innocent. I had my fair share of fun and pranks when it came to bothering and annoying my sisters. And of course, they'd rat me out to my parents when they got fed up, and I'd get the usual "You should know better. Girls are very, very sensitive," from my mom and dad.

11. You had a second set of parents.

As if one set of parents wasn't enough, you had two older sisters who were also constantly checking in on you, asking where you are, who you're with, where you're going, going through your phone, etc., etc.

Well, there you have it. A full out list on just exactly how life was and is still like when you're a boy growing up with two older sisters. I bet it's extremely different when it comes to a girl growing up with older brothers, and although I sometimes wish I had an brother as well as both of my sisters, I wouldn't trade the two of them for anything in the world, since it's taken a part in making me who I am today.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
