I was born and raised in Wisconsin. There is good and bad, but there is a lot more good. I'm grateful to have been raised in America's dairyland. Here are ten signs that you might have grown up in Wisconsin.

1. You call a drinking fountain, a bubbler

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Elkay-Versatile-Wall-Mounted-Bi-Level-ADA-Drinking-Fountain-EZSTL8LC/206087862

Very few people in America call it a bubbler. I am one of them. Sometimes, I call it a drinking fountain, but that's very rare. I never called them a water fountain because a water fountain is a fancy centerpiece that you see in a park or something similar.

2. You say the word ope a lot

I never realized how much I said ope until someone pointed it out. That's when I realized that I do say the word a lot. Ope.

3. Tailgating is a part of life

There is so much tailgating that happens in Wisconsin, and it's a lot of fun. It's a great way to have fun, socialize, and to get pumped up.

4. Hunting is also a part of life

if you are a huge hunter, your closet will be filled with blaze orange and camouflage. I'm not a hunter, but I know a lot of people that are. The first day of hunting season should just be a holiday in Wisconsin.

5. And drinking.

Please drink responsibly.

6. You are a big sports fan

Along with blaze orange and camouflage, you might have a lot of green, gold, red, and navy blue. Here in Wisconsin, we are huge sports fans. Where we proudly wear our cheese heads high and jump around. Packers, Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, and local teams. We go all out.

7. You can handle different kinds of weather

From 100 degree weather and humid to below freezing, we got it all. Wisconsin does have all four seasons, but it's very hard to explain how the weather works here. We can handle it, but doesn't mean we always like it. We can drive in the snow and rain. And you won't see too many people in coats unless it's under 40 to 50 degrees.

8. You know that Friday nights are for a fish fry

Fish-fry is very popular in Wisconsin. Cheese curds, cheese, venison, brats, and burgers are also very popular foods here. We love Barbeques and grilling out.

9. Your car has a survival kit in it

Wisconsin weather can be unpredictable and you never know what is going to happen but while you are on the road. It's always safe to be prepared.

10. You know how to dance along to the polka and jump around

Polka is played at weddings, get-togethers, Etc. Jump Around is played at Badgers games to get everyone pumped up. It's tradition.

Bonus Point: you had to find a Halloween costume that fits over a jacket and jeans

Because by the time Halloween rolls around in Wisconsin, it can get pretty chilly. So, you want to find a costume that is warm enough, or big enough to fit over another layer of clothing.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
