I've seen New York City, Nashville, and Atlanta, but none of these cities compare to Savannah. This little town is bursting at the seams with art, culture, and fun. Life here brings along many great memories that are unmatched by any I have made while traveling.
1. Savannah Bananas
Savannah and surrounding areas enjoy Saturday nights with the Savannah Bananas at the historic Grayson Stadium. (who doesn't enjoy a good baseball game?)2. Savannah Feels Like Home
Savannah is small enough to possess a distinct feeling of home. Whether you see a girl you played on a rec soccer team with in the second grade, or a girl you follow on Instagram, all of the youth in Savannah seems to be interconnected with one another.3. SkateFest
December is the time to strap on a pair of ice skates! Savannah's Skatefest brings all the fun of skating on an iced over lake while having the comfort of knowing that it is probably seventy-something degrees outside the Civic Center.4. Broughton Street
Around Broughton Street is one of the best places to explore cute little stores and restaurants. Shopping here is a huge pass time (big apology to my parent's wallet for this one.) Civvies Thrift Shop and Tequila Town creates more foot traffic than one would believe here in Savannah.5. City Market
City Market has a few local gems up its sleeve. The giant fountains coming from the ground that light up at night on Ellis Square bring about a surprising amount of entertainment for all ages. Local art galleries lay hidden on the second floor of City Market. Above all, the restaurants are too phenomenal for words. Vinny Van Go Go's serves up pizza slices the size of your head. Seriously. The slices are huge.
6. Saint Patrick's Day Parade
Savannah's famous St. Patrick's Day Parade is the city's Super Bowl. People line the streets and fill the squares decked out in green. The hardcore paraders start to gather around seven in the morning to get a good spot. Much of the youth fills squares (my personal favorite will always be Chippewa Square). The girls traditionally wear red lipstick to run into the parade to kiss the soldiers marching, which is especially fun for teenage girls to partake in.
