There's more to your dad then just the dad jokes.

My dad was born in Quito, Ecuador and eventually moved to the United States with his parents. Though he has lived in the United States for awhile now, he still has his Spanish ways that make up who he is, especially as a dad. You think it's the dad jokes that make a dad stand out? Think about having a Hispanic dad who has his dad jokes plus his Spanish background that allows him to add his own twist to being a dad.

1. They might jump to conclusion before you get the second word of your sentence out.

You were about to tell your dad about that test you might not have done so great on is getting dropped, but all he heard was you failed the test.

2. They might break out into dance randomly and then tell you this is where you got your rhythm from.

Giphy

A dance party might be started in your kitchen when a good song comes on and your dad will break out his Spanish dance moves, then tell you the reason you're such a good dancer is because of him.

3. Don't be surprised if you find him looking in a mirror telling himself how handsome he is.

Giphy

Yeah so when your dad says wow you look amazing, there's a high chance he is telling himself that he looks amazing while you stand there.

4. They will back you up on anything you tell them, if you don't like that person they don't like that person.

Giphy

If you tell them a story on why you don't like a certain person they most likely won't tell you to just let it go, they'll probably agree with you.

5.They'll talk to everyone and tell those strangers all about your life.

Giphy

Even if you're just on the elevator for a short amount of time that one person who is on it will know where you go to school, your major and what you want to do after you graduate.

6.You will know certain words in Spanish, probably like hurry up and a couple of curse words .

Giphy

At some point in your life, you'll hear words you've heard your dad say and think to yourself hey I know what that means! Then when it comes to the curse words as you get older you eventually figure out what your dad was saying all those times he would get mad.

7. They can be sensitive about anything.

Giphy

When I say anything I mean anything, even the smallest of things. You could tell your dad you decided to write a paper about him or make him a heartfelt card, either way, he will still break down in tears.

8. They like to give you motivational text messages or speeches.

Giphy

Some days it might feel like you have no motivation at all, but your dad will always be there to give you those texts or speeches that make you feel like you can take on the world!

9. They will go above and beyond to make sure your life is perfect.

Tumblr

Your dad is going to do everything in his life to make sure you get everything in your life.

10. Their craziness makes them who they are.

Giphy

They might be a little crazy, but you know they love you and you love their craziness because it makes them who they are.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
