If you grew up Italian, then there's a few things you probably know all too well:
1. The only thing more important than God and food is family.
That's it. That's the hierarchy: God < Food < Family.
2. Carbs. Carbs. CARBS.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you've probably gotten used to eating pasta, bread and cheese for any and every meal.
3. You never go hungry.
"Did you eat?" "Are you hungry?" "Here! Take some leftovers!"
4. Family get-togethers are loud. And long.
Cue the yelling for the next three hours.
5. There is no privacy.
"Did ya hear the news?! Vinny finally asked that nice girl out last week-- and she said YES!"
6. Holiday's are monumental.
50 plus people gather around the dining room table during Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. And those are just the first cousins.
7. Making pasta is one of your favorite childhood memories.
You distinctly remember having pasta laid across your bed, with the fan on high blast to help dry it out. You also remember that the smell didn't leave your sheets until a few weeks after.
8. Tough love is a real thing.
*A relative smacks you across the back of the head and then pulls you in for a hug*
9. Talking with your hands.
As stereotypical as it is- it's true.
10. Italian chain restaurants aren't true Italian food.
"You used too little cheese."
11. There's constantly left overs in the house.
Because, let's be real, Mom and Grandma always cook too much.
12. You're proud of being Italian.
Sure it's loud and fattening, but it's your livelihood.
