By the time I finish writing this article, my parents as well as my aunt and uncle will all be in Disney world together for their "empty-nesters vacation". While I am bummed I'm not with them, I can't help but smile and be overjoyed that THIS is the place they chose to go. Normally all eight of us fly down over the summer and spend a week in our favorite place making even more precious memories. Well, one cold January day, the adults were out to dinner and decided that the four of them would take a short trip for the Food and Wine festival and they couldn't be any more excited!! This is what I absolutely LOVE about Disney. It doesn't matter how old you are, everyone enjoys it and lets the magic surround them completely.
If you know me at all, you know that I am a Disney nerd through and through and I will gladly talk your ear off about it. What you may not know, is that the rest of my family are Disney nerds as well. Especially my dad! He knows what seems to be thousands of random Disney facts that he will spew out in the most random of times. Below is my favorite picture with my dad.
The three of us went off to ride Rockin' Roller Coaster and on the way back a photographer asked if we wanted our picture taken. Naturally, we had to say yes! We took the cutesy-smiley one and the photographer then tells us to fake run away from The Tower of Terror. This is the final product. I love how my dad jumped into character without hesitation and without fear of being judged because that's just the nature of Disney World. There are no adults here, we are all kids, we all knock down our walls and breathe in the magical air that is around us.
My favorite trip to Disney would have to be the time we surprised our youngest cousins and brought them with us. The three munchkins got into the car half asleep and woke up at the airport with all of us standing there in Disney t-shirts. Watching their faces light up as they saw the castle for the first time was priceless! Not only did we all get to experience their first trip along side of them, my sister and I got a little surprise of our own. My parents and the aunt and uncle we normally go to Disney with knew all along we were going the same week and they surprised us, as well as Tommy and Brendon when we got there. 15 people + one week in Disney = infinite memories that will last a lifetime! Going to Disney with friends is a lot of fun, but nothing beats going with your family.
I am so lucky to have the ability to go to Disney as often as I do and it is mind blowing to me that I experience new things every time I am there. I will never get tired of going to Disney, seeing the castle will never fail to make my heart skip a beat, and the magic will never leave my heart. When I have kids of my own, I hope Disney will play a big role in their lives like it does in mine.
Oh... and before I forget, "Have a magical day!"
