When we were younger all we did was dream of growing up and being an adult. No more rules, staying out as late as we want, being able to live in our own house. Being an adult seemed like the best thing on earth. Then you actually start growing up and start realizing that being an adult is nothing like you thought it would be. These are the moments where all you want to do is go home and have mom take care of you again, even if it does mean obeying your 11 o'clock curfew.

1. When you have to call to make your own appointments.

What happens to not talking to strangers? Now we are being forced to call one AND tell them where we will be and when. This goes against everything I was ever taught about stranger danger!!!!

2. When this mystical thing called politics is no longer something you listen to adults bicker over.

Apparently, there is so much more to politics than a donkey and elephant... Like this huge asshole, we have to some how dig the country out of, terrorist coming at us from all directions, atomic bombs, global climate change, foreign policies, and a bunch of other scary stuff that I still don't understand!!!!

3. You have to start paying for your own cell phone bill.

When did unlimited data start costing over $100 dollars? Well I guess I wont be paying my heating bill this month, it's not important to have it anyways it's only -20 outside...

4. When you realize that April 15th isn't just another day.

While high school taught me how to prove that the sides of a triangle are all the same length but I don't remember a lesson in what taxes are let alone that I was suppose to pay them. Sorry IRS I'll get around to it next year I promise.

5. When your body starts hurting for no reason.

I should not be in pain? Ten years ago I would never be in pain after just randomly deciding to go for a jog after not working out in weeks.

6. When the "you're so old" jokes you use to tell your parents get used on you.

Hey that's my punch line, you can't use that joke on me!

7. Coming to the realization that you only know how to cook three meals.

After three kitchen fires, two accidental cases of food poisoning, and hours on the phone being talked through how to cook my favorite meals that did not taste anything like they should, I think I'll just stick to the mean bowl of cereal I can pour.

8. Those dreaded medical tests that you have to start doing when you come of age...

The doctors was already painful enough when you had to go in for your basic check up and shots but now you're telling me I need to get a colonoscopy!!!

9. Dishes...

Not only do you have to start cooking for yourself but you have to clean up after the meal as well... Sadly most affordable houses are affordable because a dish washer is not included in the price tag.

10. The first wrinkle sets in.

There's no longer any way to deny the cold hard truth, you are old and no one will ever believe you again when you lie and say you're 29 years old.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
