When someone says Gronk, I think of New England, spikes, crazy end zone dances, and laughing during press conferences, but most importantly that he is one of the greatest tight ends of my time. On Sunday, Gronk announced his retirement from playing NFL football. He thanked family, teammates, and coaches for an incredible career with the New England Patriots. We as a city are very sad to see him go. He is an icon in Boston, and will remain one forever. Going to Super Bowl parades was always a blast when he came by on the duck boats and shotgunned beers, even occasionally spraying them at the crowd.
He is one of those people that when you see on TV you automatically laugh. As silly as he is, he is a role model to a lot of aspiring young football players, including my younger brother who is a huge Gronk fan.
What Boston will miss most about Gronk is his presence on the field both dancing and scoring. He was a powerhouse player who we could always count on to get the job done. Not to mention the dynamics of The New England Patriots with Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski, we could not seem to be stopped. I wonder how the team will perform next year without their star tight end, but I know that his retirement was for the best. His constant injuries and the toll his body took throughout his entire career was incredible.
I know that Bill Belichick has a plan in place and the Patriots will come back just as strong as they were last year. I am sad we have to see Gronk go, but the city of Boston wishes him the best in his future endeavors, and I hope we will continue to see him on TV and around Boston.
