"I could give you the world."
"What if I don't want it."
"That wouldn't make any sense."
"I don't find a lot of sense in wanting the whole entire world."
"I was just trying to say I could give you everything you want."
"I don't want everything."
"So you want mediocre?"
"Maybe mediocre makes me happy."
She got up and walked out of the restaurant. She always hated when random men tried to flirt with her. How sure they were of themselves got under her skin. He walked up under the impression that she'd swoon. That assumption alone showed when he introduced himself, and she was uninterested at that.
"Hey you forgot your lipstick!" He ran up behind her smirking.
"I'm sure I could've survived without it."
He held it out for her and she quickly grabbed it and sped up. She didn't have the patience to continue dealing with him, but his ego was too large to succumb to her hostility.
"What are you doing tonight?" he yelled, pacing slightly behind her.
"I have a date."
"Oh, really?"
"No, but I don't feel slightly inclined to accompany you anywhere."
She was aware she was being harsh, but it's just like when you're punishing a puppy. It may be hard to look at their face in the process, but it was what had to happen.
"Then I'll accompany you somewhere. You don't even have to change your plans, I'll follow you."
His persistence was flattering but not appealing.
"I planned on going grocery shopping."
His face lit up. "I love grocery shopping."
She cracked a smile at that. Their first date was at Kroger, and she discovered he was a pretty okay guy.
