Out of all of the Christmas movies around, Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is by far one of my faves! Although the original cartoon film is a classic, I can't help but love the Grinch played by Jim Carey. He is sarcastic, and brutally honest, two of my favorite things. Although he is a hairy, green, recluse living on top of a mountain, he is one of the most relatable characters of all time! So I've put together the top 20 moments in which the Grinch totally embodies the holidays!

1. Trying to console yourself after finals.

At least I tried hard!

2. Getting in your bed for the first time in months.

Nothing you can say will make me get up!

3. Trying to figure out who you should visit with.

Not everyone's bad... just all the people in the phone book.

4. Finding that perfect dress for the holiday party.

Gotta look good for the homies up North!

5. And realizing you don't have it.

If you've got nothing to wear, it's simple, you can't go out.

6. Trying to do everything you can over break.

Everyone's schedules are so busy during the holidays.

7. Making cameo appearances here and there.

Stop by, snag some food, and run!

8. But still leaving room for "me time."

It's important to schedule alone time, for your mental health!

9. When your mom says you need to get out of the house.

Fiiiiiiine.

10. And you see your squad for the first time.

I'm back fam!

11. Taking selfie after selfie with that good holiday lighting.

It would be a shame to waste an opportunity to bask in your own glory.

12. And stopping to admire all of the holiday decor.

Why can't everything sparkle all of the time?!?

13. Watching all of those Christmas movies that give you the feels.

I can't take these emotions!

14. Forcing your siblings to listen to all of those classic holiday jams!

How can you not want to listen to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You"???

15. Trying every single holiday dessert known to exist.

No dessert shall go untasted!

16. And continuing to eat nonstop.

Why am I still eating? I don't even like these cookies.

17. Trying to fit in a little exercise here and there.

Any little thing counts!

18. Continuously having your self-depreciation validated by your siblings.

They're always a little too quick to shoot you down...

19. When someone brings up politics at a family gathering.

Nope. Just nope.

20. And last but not least... When you have to go shopping on Christmas eve.

Please, just let me buy this scarf and leave, I beg of you!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
